Accessibility Statement

Many people living with long COVID, ME/CFS and POTS manage brain fog, fatigue, light sensitivity and vision changes. I want every visitor to find what they need with as little effort as possible.

My commitment

Long Covid Resources Canada is committed to making this website accessible to people with disabilities and chronic illness. I aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the most current international standard, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This standard is also the basis for accessibility laws across Canada, including the Accessible Canada Act and Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

Conformance status

The main pages of this site, including the resources directory, clinic directory, studies page and this page, are partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This means most content meets the standard and I am working on the remaining gaps listed below. Accessibility is ongoing work, and every new page is built to meet the standard.

Accessibility features

  • Text and buttons with strong colour contrast, checked against WCAG ratios.
  • A clear heading structure on every page, so screen reader users can jump between sections.
  • Full keyboard access, with a visible outline showing where you are on the page.
  • Large tap targets and layouts that adapt to phones, tablets and browser zoom.
  • Search and filters that announce the number of results to screen readers.
  • Links that open a new tab say so to screen reader users.
  • A dark mode toggle for people with light sensitivity.
  • Animation is reduced when your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Plain language and short sections to help with brain fog and fatigue.

How the site is tested

In September 2026, the main pages were tested with the axe automated accessibility checker against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and checked by hand with a keyboard, with browser zoom, and on phone sized screens. Colour contrast problems found in the site theme were fixed. I recheck the main pages at least once a year and whenever a page is redesigned.

Known limitations

Despite my best efforts, some content may not be fully accessible yet:

  • Content from other organizations: PDFs, guides, study posters and websites I link to are created by others, and I cannot control their accessibility. If you cannot use one, contact me and I will try to find the information in another format.
  • Embedded content: videos from YouTube or Vimeo, maps, forms and the cookie banner come from outside services and may not fully meet the standard. Captions depend on the original video.
  • Older blog posts: some posts published before 2026 may have images without full descriptions or less clear formatting. I am updating them over time.

Compatibility

The site is designed to work with current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile, and with screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack. It relies on HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The core information remains readable if JavaScript is turned off, although search and filters will not work.

Other formats

If you need any information from this site in another format, such as large print, a plain text email or a simpler summary, email me and I will provide it at no cost.

Feedback and contact

If you run into a barrier on this site, please tell me. Your feedback helps me fix problems for everyone.

Email admin@longcovidresourcescanada.ca with the page address and a short description of the problem. I aim to reply within 5 business days and to fix or offer an alternative within 30 days.
